5 Ways Businesses Can Use Modular Building - Craftsmen Industries
As brands have begun looking for new ways to stand out among the crowd while also embracing sustainability and nontraditional marketing techniques, modular building has come into the public eye more than ever before. These modular building techniques often involve the use of shipping containers, which are affordable, durable, and offer an incredibly short build time, which is why Craftsmen Industries is proud to announce that we have recently become a Registered Modular Manufacturer through the Missouri Public Service Commission. Do you think your business could benefit from the opportunities that modular buildings have to offer? Here are five shipping container conversion options that benefit organizations.

  1. Shipping Container Restaurants. Thinking of starting or expanding your food business but not ready to take the plunge with a brick-and-mortar location? Maybe you’re looking into mobile options but not sold on the idea of a food truck. Shipping container restaurants are a growing trend in the food industry for their versatility, cost, and convenience. One of the great things about building with shipping containers is that you can customize them to fit your business’ individual needs. For instance, if you’re looking for a smaller option like a concession stand that only requires space for a kitchen and check out area, a standalone container may be all you need. However, if you’re looking to build a full-size restaurant with space for seating, multiple shipping containers can be combined or stacked onto existing structures to create a unique space to host customers. Once your shipping container restaurant is assembled, interior and exterior graphics can be added to make it unique and completely yours!

  2. Modular Office Building or Command Center. With traditional offices becoming increasingly obsolete and more and more people looking for areas to work remotely, modular office buildings may prove to be an effective solution. Whether you are looking for a space for a few employees to work safely or for a full mobile office when it is too expensive or inconvenient to build traditional command centers in multiple locations, modular building may be your answer. Depending on what your business requires, modular offices are often the quickest and most cost effective option available.

  3. Pop-up Shop. One benefit of using shipping containers is that they adhere to ISO shipping standards and can be easily relocated via a number of methods of transportation, which is excellent news if your brand is looking to host a pop-up shop or brand activation tour. Shipping containers offer a convenient, self-contained way to quite literally pick up and move your shop around your city or across the country. Modular pop-up shops can be hosted nearly anywhere, like at events, open lots, and city parks, which allows you to introduce your brand to new audiences. Converted shipping containers can also be used to offer extra space for existing stores that are regularly at capacity due to Covid-19 regulations, and can be modified to extend into an open-air style shop to encourage airflow and increased safety.

  4. Product Demonstration. Mobile displays provide an effective alternative to trade show exhibits with you as the primary focus of attention, instead of getting lost in the crowd. Travel directly to your target customers with a modular exhibit that showcases your brand and products. The ease of setup and portability makes this an excellent option for cross-country tours, while also offering the ability to brand and customize your space.  We made a series of modular experiential mobile marketing units for Gillette which served as a unique branding experience that generated great customer responses. Guests were invited to come inside and sample the razors in a hands-on setting and see the benefits of the products firsthand.

  5. Mobile Medical Clinic. It’s no secret that hospitals, clinics, and medical nonprofit groups across the country are facing capacity limits with Covid-19 cases increasing again. Many are looking for alternative spaces to host patients and provide services to those in both urban and rural areas alike. With modular units, hospitals can transport and set up mobile medical trailers or customized vehicles in a matter of days, not months.
